One of the keys to effective ministry is getting people connected. Ministry is all about people, and that’s why we are excited to help you connect effectively. DYM Text is a powerful tool, and we know it there’s a lot to learn. This email provides important instructions for setting up your DYM text account.
The first step is to log into your account and add people to your distribution lists so you can start sending them texts. You can collect contacts in 3 ways:
(A) Create a Mobile Keyword
Most of your students will sign up for your texting with their phones. To do so, they will text a keyword to 95577. For example, you will tell your students to text “YOUTHGROUP” to 95577. (Note: not all keywords are available, but you’ll find something that will work.) To create your own unique mobile keyword:
1. Log into your account and click on GREEN "Collect Contacts" button.
2. Under “MOBILE KEYWORDS LIST,” from the dropdown menu called “Please select a keyword type,” select “Keyword Sign up” and then select “Create.”
3. Follow the rest of the instructions on the site.
>> Create multiple keywords for different purposes (e.g. “HSM-parents” or “HSM-volunteers”). If you need additional keywords, email email@example.com.
>> You can change your keyword at any time. Think of the # of keywords you have in your plan as a # of keyword “slots.”
>> To change your keyword, simply delete your old keyword before you try and add a new one.
>> You may also want to create a sign up page for your website, you can create this under the “Collect Contacts” section.
(B) Add/Import Contacts
On all paid plans, you have the option to import contacts from a spreadsheet (Comma Separate Value .CSV file). Your contacts must have opted in to your communications, it is illegal to add contacts without their consent. You hate SPAM, don’t be a spammer.
1. Log into your account and click on ORANGE "Manage Contacts and Lists" button.
In order to be in compliance with the law, you will need to download a form, complete it (it requires an actual handwritten signature), and upload it. This is a one-time process. In most cases, you will be notified within one business day.
(C) Send a Message
Once you’ve added some contacts to your account, it’s time to send them a message.
1. Log into your account and click on BLUE "Send Messages" button.
Monthly credits do NOT roll over... so make sure you use the credits that you are issued each month because you start with a fresh 150 at the beginning of each "pay period".
To receive a text it costs .5 credit.
*You can’t control when someone responds to the text, but just be aware when you ask for a response, that those responses are costing you .5 credit per response.
Auto-response texts cost 1 credit per text.
*It’s important to note that the auto-response texts could drain the amount of texts in your account while you aren’t even aware. Be cautious as you choose which auto-responses to set up.
