Some of the builders, or "apps" within Sidekick deal with "picking random things". They are pretty powerful and in this video I want to show you a few tricks in the Sidekick utility belt.
In the Edit screen, you can rig the odds of a particular item getting won, even setting it to "never"! All visible items will show up, but not all can be won.
Over in the play screen, before you even hit SPIN, Sidekick has already randomly picked the next winner. The Gold Trophy will always tell you what Sidekick will land on next.
If you don't like that outcome, you can click this button to pick a new random winner.
You can also pre-select winners by clicking on this Plus sign to add pre-selected winners to this list. You'll see that clicking on one of these will place it next to the golden trophy.
If this new superpower is too tempting for you, you can click the Eye above the trohy to hide this control and let Sidekick do it's thing.
Finally, Sidekick has this neat little control to Hide the last item, called, hide last item. If you don't want that person or prize to be picked again, toggle this so that after it is won, it's taken off the board.
Now that you know how the picker works you know how to use four of the builders in Sidekick! Let's check out the differences in these:
• Boxes is limited to 40 items but you can see all of the potentials on a single screen. Each item has an emoji and a title
• Wheel of Destiny is limited to 15 items and you can see all of them on the wheel at once.
• PickMe allows you to enter thousands of text items and it will cycle through all of them.
• PhotoFury, like PickMe, has zero limitations but allows you to use images instead of text.
And that's how to use Sidekick to pick random (or not so random) winners!
